French Coach Bruno Irles Takes the Helm at RWDM After Caçapa Dismissal

End of the suspense on the RWDM side where the management found a successor to Caçapa, dismissed from his position after the debacle against Antwerp. In the wake of the Brazilian’s dismissal, management indicated that they wanted to hire the services of either a coach who knows the championship well, or a T1 capable of adapting quickly. Finally, she abandoned the Belgian profiles and turned to France, entrusting the rescue mission to Bruno Irles.

The 48-year-old French technician, a former defender who wore the colors of AS Monaco, began his coaching career at the AS Monaco training center where he notably coached the U17s and the Monegasque reserve team in CFA2. He also managed the training center where he worked alongside players like Carrasco, Kurzawa and Mbappé.

He took his first steps with a senior team at Arles-Avignon (Ligue 2) before freelancing at Sheriff Tiraspol and returning to France, first to Pau (National) and then to US Quevilly-Rouen ( National).

At the beginning of January 2022, he became the coach of ESTAC Troyes, which he managed to keep in Ligue 1 for the first time in 16 years, which did not prevent him from being sacked in November 2022.

The one who signed a contract with RWDM until the end of the season, with automatic renewal for one year if maintained, will be supported by Jérémy Clement (ex-Lyon, Rangers and PSG). The duo will have to quickly find their feet in a championship that they will discover and impose their mark on a team in full doubt.

Gauthier Ganaye: “We are delighted to welcome Bruno to the club. His tactical pragmatism, his ability to exploit the potential of his players as well as his know-how in individual player development made him the ideal candidate for this mission!”

Bruno Irles: “Looking forward to taking on this new challenge, with the help of the entire club and its many supporters, in a championship that I have been following for a long time.”
