French Badminton Championships: Fosseans Shine with Multiple Gold Medal Wins

It’s (already) the end of these French Badminton Championships. And there are several Fosseans to win gold. Christo Popov wins a double, singles and doubles, Toma Jr Popov wins the men’s doubles with his brother, Elsa Jacob and Tom Lalot Trescarte win the mixed, Léonice Huet the women’s singles, and Margot Lambert and Anne Tran the women’s doubles! After three days of intense competition, it’s the end of these French Badminton Championships in Fos-sur-Mer. And there is gold for the Fosseans! Here are the detailed results of these finals and interviews with the champions!

12H45 : Half of the first set, small lead from Christo who leads 11-8. It’s a magnificent spectacle offered by the two brothers, who know each other inside out on the pitch. A very aggressive Toma, but a solid Christo in defense, on all fronts. No one in the coaches chair. The dad is in the stands, enjoying the show.

12:35 p.m.: Start of the second match, the men’s singles, between the two Popov brothers.

12H : A complicated half of the 3rd set for Elsa and Tom, trailing 11-7. The exchanges lengthen and the game is more structured. On both sides, concentration is at maximum.

11:50 a.m.: And it’s a second set won by Elsa and Tom, on a fault from Eloi who takes out the shuttlecock from the baseline. 21-17. Eloi and her partner Sharone who are catching up, determined, but it will not be enough. 1 set everywhere. It will therefore be necessary to have a final set to decide between this mixed final.
