In the first round, Vicky Verschaere won against the Polish Gonsior on ippon. In the quarter-final, she got the better of another Pole, Dyba, thanks to two waza-ari in one minute. The semi-final was dispatched with an ippon on the Hungarian Farkas.
On the men’s side, Karel Foubert was exempt from the first round in -90 kg, but lost in the second against the Italian Falcone.
