Favorites Fulfill Their Potential: Montpellier Tournament Semifinals Set

The three main attractions of the Montpellier tournament, the Dane Holger Rune, the Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime and the Croatian Borna Coric, fulfilled their status as favorites and reached the semifinals. Biblik and Felix Auger Aliassime will face each other for a place in the final and Rune with Coric.

Rune is aiming for his fifth title, the first of 2024. He played the final in Brisbane and now, after his disappointing time at the Australian Open, he intends to expand his record in this French tournament.

The first seed won the American Michael Mmoh, who faced the Dane. In the end, Rune won 7-6 (8) and 6-4 in two hours and will play with Coric, who won 6-3 and 6-4 against the Italian Flavio Cobolli.

The other semi-final, however, is defined. Bublik is one step away from repeating the final in Montpellier, where he won in 2022. It was the first title in the career of the Kazakh, second favorite, who had to overcome his compatriot Alexander Shevchenko 4-6, 6-3 and 6- 4.

Bublik will face Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime, third seed, in the semifinals, who beat local Harold Mayot 7-5, 6-1 to get closer to his first final in 2024.
