Father Threatens Motorists with Baseball Bat After Son’s Accident: Pays 900 Euro Fine

The son, shortly before, had been the victim of an accident while crossing a pedestrian crossing on his bicycle. The father, who arrived on site ten minutes later, had taken a baseball bat from the compartment under the seat of the scooter and began to threaten the motorists involved in the accident. For this episode, which dates back to the afternoon of January 2, 2022, a 45-year-old Albanian citizen was charged with aggravated threats and yesterday – protected by the lawyer Filippo Bianchini – he agreed to a fine of 900 euros before judge Piervittorio Farinella.

That day a local police patrol intervened around 4pm in Via Romea, near the Great Britain roundabout, to detect an accident involving a minor on a bicycle and two vehicles. His father was found on site and, according to two people involved in the accident, he had approached them shortly before, uttering threats (“I’ll break your head”) and brandishing a baseball bat. In particular, he had placed it against the forehead of one of them, shouting in his face and calming down shortly after thanks to the intervention of other witnesses.

A woman, companion of one of the motorists who had hit the bike, who remained in the car because she was in pain, had heard the man scream. Those phases, it was later ascertained, had been filmed by the cameras of the video surveillance system of a nearby workshop.

The 45-year-old, before following his son as he was loaded into the ambulance and transported to the emergency room, had then shown the officers the baseball bat, together with a glove and a ball, with which – he explained – he used to play with his children .
