Everton Premier League points withdrawal reduced on appeal

Everton has had its points deduction, for a breach of the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules, reduced to six points from ten, the English Football League and Liverpool club said on Monday. As a reminder, in November 2023, Everton had ten points removed from the standings. The club is accused of having lost 124.5 million pounds sterling (142 million euros) during the 2021-2022 season, while the loss cap was set at 105 million pounds (120 million euros) .

The club decided to appeal this decision to the chairman of the Premier League judicial committee. A call which today seems to have borne fruit. “Everton can confirm that an appeal committee has concluded that the points deduction imposed by an independent Premier League committee in November be reduced from ten points to six points, with immediate effect,” the English club said in a statement. . “We are satisfied that our appeal has resulted in a reduction in the penalty points,” added the English club.

Everton were 17th in the Premier League, with 21 points, before the outcome of this call. With their four additional points, the club moves back ahead of Nottingham Forest and returns to level with Brentford, in fifteenth place. The Toffees are now five points ahead of the first relegated side, Luton.
