Manchester United has made contact with the entourage of Mathys Tel, the eighteen-year-old attacker of Bayern Munich. Journalist Florian Plettenberg released this news on Friday. According to the German branch of Sky Sport, there are two unnamed European top clubs that want to sign Tel.
The Red Devils see Tel as an absolute top striker for the future, who can also play on both flanks. Manager Erik ten Hag wants to act as quickly as possible and bring the French youth international to Old Trafford next summer.
However, Plettenberg wonders whether Tel already wants to leave Munich, where he is still attached until mid-2027. The right-footer wants to become a club legend at the Rekordmeister, although he believes that he should be given more opportunities.
According to the German journalist, Tel has not yet gotten the feeling that Bayern Munich really has confidence in him. The teenager will consider all options in the coming months, although he does not want to leave on loan.
Tel has been playing for Bayern Munich since the summer of 2022, when he joined from Stade Rennes. The German superpower paid 20 million euros for him at the time. Although Tel often has to make do with substitute appearances at the Allianz Arena, his market value has already risen to 50 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.
Since leaving for Germany, Tel has played just 1,331 minutes in Bayern Munich’s main squad, across 55 appearances. The French top talent scored twelve goals and three assists.
After the takeover by INEOS, Manchester United wants to focus on bringing in young talents who can grow into world stars. The club management thinks Tel has that potential. The attacker can take over from a compatriot in Manchester, as Anthony Martial’s contract expires in more than four months.
