East Bohemians Thrive in Spanish Paradise of Marbella

Marbella (from our reporter) – Pardubice have pulled through, there’s no doubt about that. “For us, it’s a paradise and we know that not everyone has it. The conditions are absolutely fantastic. In Turkey, for example, you don’t always know what the weather will be like, here there is certainty. We have quality opponents, great food, excellent conditions,” praises coach Radoslav Kováč.

Just get on the bus in front of the hotel and get off in less than ten minutes directly at the Banús Football Center training ground. “We haven’t decided how far we will be from the sea,” smiles spokesman Radek Klier, even though the Pardubice hotel is really close to the water.

The distance from the pitches mainly played a role. “We didn’t want to spend like 30 minutes on the bus on the way to each practice and back. We are on a busier street, but that doesn’t matter, we have everything we need,” he adds.

The East Bohemians took advantage of their experience, they were in nearby Estepona two years ago. The south of Spain offers ideal conditions for football in January. Although the sun is not very warm this year, it is still between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. “We knew we were going for quality,” says Klier.

“Personally, I don’t like fishing in the winter, so I’m happy with the temperature here. The pitches are perfect, we have gyms available. Whoever chose it, thank you very much,” agrees Kinský, who says he doesn’t really want to go home. Logical. “I’m tempted to be with my family, but the week is short, and I think they could do without me for two weeks,” he grins.

With Sparta, which has been using Marbella for many years, the East Bohemians did not consult the choice of location in advance. But when two Czech teams met in one place and very close to each other, mutual visits occurred during the preparatory duels.

“Otherwise we have two training sessions a day. Sometimes the coaches relax the program, especially before and after the match, when there is, on the other hand, more space for regeneration and preparation with the video. For example, on Tuesday there was a session with the coaches, who outlined the training program, its meaning and goal for the whole six months ahead for the players. It was such an educational meeting,” explained Klier.

The Pardubice footballers will warm up until Friday, when in the morning they will play a warm-up for the start of the league spring against Danish Odense. And then just pack up and head for the Czech Republic.
