Dubai: Sorana Cirstea’s incredible comeback against Marketa Vondrousova

The miracle of Dubai. While the Czech Marketa Vondrousova (8th player in the world) led 6-2, 5-1 and served for the match, Thursday in the quarter-finals, the Romanian Sorana Cirstea achieved the feat of completely reversing the match and winning a game very badly started.

The winner of the last Wimbledon nevertheless obtained six match points, but the 22nd in the world snatched the decisive game before flying to the semi-finals in three sets (2-6, 7-6 [1], 6-2). The miracle of the day will face the surprising Italian Jasmine Paolini, who took advantage of Elena Rybakina’s withdrawal (seeded number 4). This will be Cirstea’s third semi-final at this level, after the tournament in Toronto in 2013 and that in Miami last year.
