With great success, they close the Dominican Sports Festival in Puerto Rico with hundreds of athletes
The XVII Dominican National Games successfully concluded with the participation of almost a thousand athletes in 8 sports disciplines.
Santurce dominated games in volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball and karate. While Guaynabo won taekwondo and Bayamón dominated judo and the domino tournament.
The event was sponsored by the Institute of Dominicans and Dominicans Abroad (INDEX) and its executive director and vice minister for communities abroad Carlos de la Mota and sponsored by the municipality of San Juan and its mayor Miguel Romero
For its part, Carlos Hernandez (Happy)who served as general director of the National Games, took advantage of the occasion to congratulate the winners and all those who participated in the sports festival.
“I also take this opportunity to congratulate the athletes and coaches who participated in the games since without their support the games are not a reality,” said the veteran sports leader based in Puerto Rico with a long sports career full of successes.
He indicated that: “Our goal is to continue working for the benefit of those young Dominicans who develop in Puerto Rico so that they integrate into sports practices so that tomorrow they will be better citizens,” said Hernández.
He stated that for several days, hundreds of Dominican athletes in different sports disciplines competed gallantly to win the first places and where the most important thing was the Dominicanness that they presented in the games.
“Here the Dominican flag was present at every moment, we have all won with these Games,” he noted.
