Dominican National Basketball Team Sees Surge in Talent with New Head Coach, David Díaz

Santo Domingo.-The newly appointed head coach of the national senior basketball team, David Díaz, expressed this Tuesday that the level of the players who have made up the squad in the latest international sporting events has increased enormously.

He maintained that “the positive results that the tricolor team has obtained are in the growth of many Dominican players, who are scattered in different professional leagues around the world exhibiting their talent and athletic quality.”

He highlighted the integrations of the NBA Karl Towns, captain Víctor Liz, Andrés Féliz, Jean Montero, Gelvis Solano, Eloy Vargas, Ángel Luis Delgado, Rigoberto Mendoza, Luis David Montero, Luis Santos, Antonio Peña, LJ Figueroa and Brandone Francis, among many others. “Almost everyone in this group participated in the 2023 Philippine World Championships,” he said.

He appreciated that a core of young people who will be invited, who have been rising and are looking for a space in the Quisqueyan squad, will be observed in the training process of the national preselect.

Jassel Pérez, Diego Colón, Luismal Ferreiras, Eddy Polanco, Jean Carlos Quezada, Reynaldo Abad, Randy and Richard Bautista, Bryan Saviñón and Omar Silverio, among young people, will be invited to the preselection.
