Diver Praasterink grabs Olympic ticket with eleventh place in World Cup final | Sports Other

Diver Else Praasterink finished eleventh in the final of the 10 meter tower at the World Championships in Doha on Monday. The South Holland player thus equaled her performance from 2022 and secured a ticket for the Olympic Games.

Twenty-year-old Praasterink finished with a total score of 217.10 after five jumps, which was good for eleventh place. China’s Quan Hongchan took gold in the Qatari capital (436.25 points). Her compatriot Chen Yuxi claimed a silver medal after five jumps. Britain’s Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix came third.

Earlier in the day, Praasterink, who is studying in Kentucky, American, qualified ninth for the final. It is the second time that the diver was in the World Cup final of the 10 meter tower. She also finished eleventh in her World Cup debut in June 2022.

Marloes Steenbeek and the duo Celine van Duijn and Inge Jansen also have a chance of winning medals. Steenbeek is in the final of the solo free freestyle, while Van Duijn and Jansen are going for gold in the synchronized jumping of the 3 meter board.

Noortje and Bregje de Brouwer missed out on the medals in the final of the technical exercise on Monday. The twin sisters came fourth with a score of 251.8633. Chinese twin sisters Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi took gold with a score of 266.0484.
