Cynthia Rubio Martinez: From Hidalgo to the World Stage in Judo

Hidalgo judoka Cynthia Rubio Martínez is one of the athletes who has obtained the best results in judo at the national level, a situation that motivates her to, in the medium or long term, seek a place in the national team and represent Mexico on international stages.

In an interview for El Sol de Hidalgo, Rubio Martínez recalled that he has been in this sport for 14 years, nine of them in high performance in which he has already had several podiums in the Conade National Games, a competition formerly known as the National Olympics.

After the strike that occurred in 2020 due to Covid-19, Cynthia has won two golds and a bronze in the Conade National Games from 2021 to 2023, a situation that motivates her to think about the future about seeking a place in the national team. But, he says, he is going step by step and for the moment he is focused on completing his cycle of the National Games.

“I would like to join the national team, but now I only focus on my national cycle, later, I will think about more, about joining the national team and representing Mexico in the World Cups and why not, in the Olympic Games.”

Finally, she shared that since she was little she has had a taste for martial arts, and that although athletics draws her a little attention, judo has become a primary habit in her life and for which she also relies on her brother. Emiliano, who also practices in the state team.
