Crailsheim Merlins Secure Victory Over Tigers Despite Strong Comeback

The Tigers had some problems again in the first quarter, especially defensively. Crailsheim took advantage of this and took the lead with 25:14. However, after a timeout by Tigers coach Daniel Jansson, the Tübingen team reduced the deficit to 18:25 by the first quarter break.

In the second quarter, Tigers playmaker Aatu Kivimäki made his comeback after several months out due to injury, accompanied by chants of “Kivi Magic”. And the Tigers continued their run to 23:25. Time out Crailsheim. The Merlins came back to the floor stronger. Tübingen initially lacked defensive access again before a 10-0 run brought the Tigers back into the game. The score at halftime was 44:47 from Tübingen’s perspective.

Even after the break it was a tough game for the Tigers. Short highs were always followed by lows. The Tübingen team started the final quarter 7 points behind (60:67).

And here too, Crailsheim was the more confident team and maintained their lead until the final phase. The Merlins had better nerves, especially when it came to free throws. Crailsheim achieved their first away win of the season. The direct comparison is also lost for the Tübingen team.

The most successful thrower for the Tigers was Jhivvan Jackson with 22 points.

The top scorer of the game was Crailsheim’s Keandre Cook with 27 points.

The Tigers continue on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. with the next duel against a competitor in the relegation battle at BG Göttingen.
