In the list of spring races we will continue in February with the Tour of the Algarve! There is a lot going on in the south of Portugal this week, that’s what many global cycling leaders must have thought. The organization can count on a very strong starting field including Wout van Aert and Remco Evenepoel, so In de Leiderstrui is happy to tell you all about that!

If you look at the honors list of the five-day stage race in the Algarve, you will see a lot of star quality. We are not talking about Jao Rodrigues, the 2021 winner, but about Grand Tour winners and ex-world champions such as Remco Evenepoel, Michal Kwiatkowski, Tadej Pogacar, Primoz Roglic and Geraint Thomas.

Last season, Colombian Daniel Felipe Martínez was the best, completing the five-day event two seconds faster than his teammate Filippo Ganna. Both men are there again this year, although that applies to many stars.
