Colombian tennis player advances to second round of Austin Tournament after health setback

The Colombian tennis player advanced to the second round of the Austin Tournament in the United States.

María Camila Osorio was recovering from a health breakdown resulting from an influence that did not allow her to be on the court for a few days, however, she managed to recover satisfactorily and on her return to competitions, she had an outstanding victory.

In the first round of the Austin Tournament in the United States, the Cucuteña defeated the tennis player of French origin, Alize Cornet, who is ranked 104 in the WTA world ranking, in a duel that lasted just one hour.

With partial scores 6-3 and 6-2, the young tricolor tennis player added a new victory that gave her a place in the second round of the tournament, where she will return to action this Wednesday, February 28, with an opponent that will be defined in the duel between the Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina and the Czech Sara Bejlek who will play their duel starting at 2:00 pm (Colombia time).

This was the second victory that the Colombian had against the European throughout history. The first occasion was in 2023, in the middle of the tournament in Lyon, France.

This tournament, which is played on a hard surface, serves as preparation for the Indian Wells, which will be held from next March 15, this being the first competition of the Masters 1000 season in which the Colombian will be present.
