Club has a deadly weapon: “He is really unstoppable”

Club Brugge is preparing for some important weeks. The competition will include successive matches against Cercle Brugge, Anderlecht and KRC Genk, with the return match in the semi-finals of the Croky Cup also taking place in between. But Blauw-Zwart can count on some players in top form.

The people of Bruges were very inconsistent in the first half of the season and made many mistakes, especially in the competition. But a catch-up movement was started in December. Due to the avoidable 1 out of 6 against KV Kortrijk and Antwerp, that advance was hit. But last weekend Club started again with a convincing win against KAS Eupen.

However, coach Ronny Deila had to miss several important players against the Pandas. After all, Philip Zinckernagel and Hugo Vetlesen will be sidelined for a while due to injuries. Captain Hans Vanaken and top scorer Igor Thiago in turn had to serve a suspension.

Flashing Forest Olsen

In their absence, however, other players claimed a decisive role. Casper Nielsen, for example, played another strong game in midfield, while Brandon Mechele once again scored a goal. In addition, Andreas Skov Olsen was also at the gun again. The Dane now has 19 goals and 8 assists this season.

More than ever, Skov Olsen is a weapon for Club. Especially with his typical movement, with which he cuts inside and then delivers a blistering left strike. “I think it would be terrible to play against,” says analyst Wesley Sonck at Extra Time. “You know what he is going to do, but you are still late. Johan Bakayoko has that too, just like Arjen Robben.”

Like Dembele

Steven Defour, in turn, made the comparison with former Red Devil Moussa Dembélé. “He had that too, but from midfield. You knew he was going to the left, but then he went past it anyway,” said Defour. “In the cup against Union, Skov Olsen was there for 150%. He is simply unstoppable, really unstoppable,” concluded Peter Vandenbempt.
