Cleveland Cavaliers Stun Dallas Mavericks with Buzzer Beater to Win 121-119

Cleveland Cavaliers (38-19) – Dallas Mavericks (33-25) 121:119 (BOXSCORE)

What an end to a quality game. With 3 seconds left, PJ Washington gave the Mavericks the lead after a broken play. The Cavs didn’t have a timeout left, so Max Strus took the throw-in and got the ball right back from Evan Mobley. The former Heat player let the ball fly out of his own half (officially it was 17.7 meters) and this went through the trap without touching the ring. It was the longest game winner of the season.

Strus (21 points, 7/10 3P) was the man of the day for the Cavs, who were down -10 with four minutes left. The 27-year-old then converted four three-pointers in 66 seconds, and Donovan Mitchell (31, 11/20 FG, 7/11 3P, 7 TO) followed up with two more three-pointers a little later. The Cavs converted 20/40 from downtown over 48 minutes, all of the last seven attempts of the game.

You couldn’t blame the Mavericks for much; they otherwise played an excellent second half after Cleveland was ahead by 15 points at one point in the second quarter. Over 48 minutes, the guests only lost five balls and hit almost 53 percent from the field, and the stars delivered. Luka Doncic recorded 45 points (17/29 FG, 6/11 3P), 9 rebounds, 14 assists and 3 steals and offered the numerous Slovenian fans in Cleveland a real show. In the final quarter, the Cavs doubled up more and Doncic found the strong Washington several times (11, 5/8, 3 steals).
