Charlotte Hornets’ New Ownership Embarks on Facelift with $30 Million Sports Facilities Upgrade

The new ownership of the Charlotte Hornets has not been long in making a small facelift for the franchise. Since the arrival of Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall, the franchise has seen the departure of Mitch Kupchak after resigning as president of operations. And today, the organization has announced the inauguration of new sports facilities in downtown Charlotte. The costs of the project will amount to up to $30 million, financed entirely with public money.

The Hornets have reached an agreement with Novant Health to found what they call a “leading sports medicine and orthopedic care center that will be part of the training facility.” This is part of the 275 million allocation that the Charlotte government allocated for the renovation of the stadium and the construction of new ones. facilities. With 60 million committed to the training facilities, the franchise has asked to cut the amount in half and redistribute it to the new pavilion.

“The new training facilities are the next step in our vision of building a leading franchise and having a world-class facility,” the organization communicates before thanking the public entities involved. The idea is to build this new building near the Spectrum Center. The Hornets hope to have it finalized by 2026.
