Challenge Tour Covered 4th, Akesson alone in front

This Sunday morning in South Africa concluded the third round of the NMB Championship, disrupted on Saturday by the wind and interrupted by the night. Björn Akesson took the lead alone while Martin Couvra held on to 4th place. If Pierre Pineau has fallen in the rankings, Romain Wattel has entered the top 10.

Martin Couvrera stays the course in South Africa. Thus, the Frenchman retained his 4th place (-15 total) acquired at the end of the cut by returning a card of 69. Well launched on Saturday evening (three birdies, one bogey) before the interruption of the third round of the NMB Championship, the 21-year-old was solid on Sunday morning (two birdies, one bogey) and is only three lengths behind the top of the leaderboard, where we find Björn Akesson (-18 total).

Despite his four bogeys, the Swede was able to tame the wind, which still blows so strongly in Port Elizabeth, and validate eight birdies. This score of 68 therefore allows him to seize the leader’s seat alone, just ahead of Lee Slattery (-17 total), author, for his part, of a record of 67 (five birdies, two bogeys, an eagle on the 11). The third step on the podium is occupied by Hayden Hopewell (-16), who is narrowly ahead of Jonathan Caldwell, only 5th (-14).
