CDMX Judo Tournament: Selecting the Next Generation of National Representitives

Intense judo fights took place in a selective CDMX Sports Games tournament

Mexico City (CDMX) already has its team of judokas that will represent the country’s capital in the next CONADE 2024 National Games, thanks to the holding of the tournament corresponding to the Children’s, Youth and Paralympic Sports Games of the CDMX.

This tournament was held last weekend in the Deportivo “Hermanos Galeana” gym, in the Gustavo A Madero Mayor’s Office (GAM) of this capital, where judo practitioners from the 16 municipalities attended.

The holding of these competitions was organized by the CDMX Judokas Association, in coordination with the Sports Institute of Mexico City (CDMX), as well as the sports authorities of Gustavo A. Madero.

To start the selective tournament, an opening ceremony was held that was attended by the General Director of Social Development of the GAM, Rubén Linares Flores, as well as coaches from throughout the capital.

In his message, the official highlighted the relevance of these competitions and their realization in Madera territory, where since last year the practice of sport in all its expressions has been promoted and supported, as well as all martial arts such as judo, in order that its inhabitants manage to reach the highest sporting event in the country.

Once the protocol ceremony was over, all the judokas were given a few minutes to warm up, and then the CDMX Children’s, Youth and Paralympic Sports Games competitions began, where each of the practitioners received shouts of support from attendees and colleagues.

The tournament had children’s categories starting from Mini (5-6 years), Baby (7-8 years), Pre-Infant (9.10), Infant A Sub 13 (11-12 years), Infant B Sub 15 (13-14 ), Cadets (16-17 years), Junior (18-20) and Primera Fuerza (15 years and older), all in the women’s and men’s branches.

However, for the CDMX Sports Games, only those in the categories corresponding to Sub 13 (development), Sub 15, Sub 18 and Sub 21 were considered.

A special situation that was noticed was the spirit to win of all the judokas, regardless of the category or branch, which made the atmosphere filled with emotions.

In this way, the competitions developed fluidly from children to adults, with the latter being in charge of closing all the competitions.

At the end, the awards were held for the first, second and third places, who became part of the CDMX Judo Team whose training is expected to begin next weekend to refine their techniques towards the CONADE 2024 National Games.
