Carlos Carrasco He is officially back to the team that made him great in the Majors, Cleveland. The right-hander threw the bullpen for the first time on Tuesday and spoke to the press about his return home.
The Larense spent 11 seasons with the Indians, as they were called at that time. There he had the best numbers of his career and pitched in the postseason three times.
That’s why Carlos Carrasco decided to return. “It was really simple (to make the decision),” Carrasco said. “I just want to come back here. I spent 11 years here. It was really wonderful. I’m glad to be here,” were the words he told Tommy Wild, a journalist who covers the Guardians for Cleveland Baseball Insider.
Carrasco also told the press that the entire city was happy to see him return. “They told me that from the clinic I went to in Cleveland, the restaurants, the friends, everyone… They are very happy that I am here.”
But it’s not just fans and teammates, explains Wild, even Chris Antonettipresident of Baseball Operations, is happy to have Carrasco on the team.
“It’s amazing,” Chris said. «We were close to tears in that meeting and we listened to him reflect on his experience in baseball and talk about different people along his path who have impacted him and how happy he is to be back. “We share that emotion,” the executive said.
The manager commented that Carrasco is a valuable piece for the team. “We know what he is capable of doing and he can help us if he is fit,” said Antonetti.
Most likely, the Cleveland press has said, Cookie will remain as a long reliever and occasional starter.
