The Spaniard did not have to force his talent to push Andrea Vavassori out of his way.
Spanish world No.2 Carlos Alcaraz qualified for the semi-finals of the ATP 250 tournament in Buenos Aires on Friday, defeating Italian Andrea Vavassori 7-6 (7/1), 6-1.
Title holder in Argentina, Alcaraz is playing his first tournament there this year since his elimination in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open at the end of January.
Logically favorite against Vavassori, 152nd in the world and from qualifying, the 20-year-old Spaniard was pushed to the tie break in the first set before unwinding and winning in 1h40.
Carlos Alcaraz will face Chilean Nicolas Jarry in the semi-final, who qualified on Friday at the expense of Argentinian Tomas Etcheverry, who retired before the third set (4-6, 7-5, 0 -0).
