Brooklyn Nets Head Coach Jacque Vaughn Fired Mid-Season

Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn has been fired from his position, the NBA franchise announced Monday. “The Brooklyn Nets have released Jacque Vaughn from his duties as head coach. An interim head coach will be named soon,” the franchise wrote on social media.

Two months from the end of the regular season, the Nets are 11th in the Eastern Conference (21 wins – 33 losses), out of the qualifying places for the play-offs. After the failure of its star trio Kevin Durant/Kyrie Irving/James Harden, all gone (Harden at the start of 2022, Durant and Irving at the start of 2023), Brooklyn is looking to rebuild. Jacque Vaughn (49), NBA champion as a player with the San Antonio Spurs in 2007, was the head coach of the Nets since the end of 2022 and the departure of Steve Nash.
