Boxing duel between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usyk has been postponed

Due to an injury to Tyson Fury, the big boxing spectacle against Alexander Usyk has to be postponed. Fury suffered an unusual wound above his right eye while training for the fight, which was scheduled to take place in Riyadh on February 17, organizers said on Friday.

The British boxer needed medical attention immediately and the cut was stitched up. Since the injury requires a longer period of healing, a duel in mid-February is ruled out, it was said. Organizers said they would set a new date for the fight in Saudi Arabia as soon as possible.

“I’m devastated, I’ve been preparing for this fight for so long and I was in great shape,” Fury said: “I feel bad for all the people involved in this huge event. As soon as everything has healed, I will work diligently towards the rescheduled date. “I can only apologize to everyone involved,” Fury was quoted as saying in a statement.
