A heated altercation between Jaylen Brown and Duncan Robinson stood out during the tense game on Sunday, where the Boston Celtics faced off against the Miami Heat.

“I believe he was fully aware of his intentions, deliberately getting caught up to avoid playing defense,” stated Brown. “Although the foul was called, he continued to hold on, so I attempted to free my arm as well…”

“I got the impression that Duncan Robinson was aware of his actions,” he restated. “He seemed to be intentionally getting caught up and attempting to provoke something – I’m not sure what his intentions were, but I doubt he will repeat it.”

The game on Sunday had the intensity of a playoff match between two teams from the Eastern Conference, with physical plays and a tense fourth quarter. The Celtics managed to win 110-106 at Kaseya Center, completing a sweep of the season series against their rivals.

“I believed it was a foul play, to be truthful,” he added. “This type of incident has caused players to sit out entire seasons. Thankfully, it didn’t happen to me, but we’ve seen similar plays result in severe injuries in the past. I felt it was risky, avoidable, and excessive…I let him know that we were both going hard at it. Unfortunately, he took it too far.”

During the intense final quarter, Brown and Robinson became entangled. Robinson tightly guarded Brown and held on for a bit too long, causing Brown to throw Robinson to the ground. As a result, the Celtics’ All-Star received a Flagrant 1 penalty for the incident.
After the game, Robinson was still upset about the incident. He publicly criticized Brown for what he saw as a “cheap move.”
