Borussia Dortmund Eyes Promising Young Talents from Arsenal FC

In search of new talents who should follow a similarly successful path as Jadon Sancho or currently Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Borussia Dortmund is reportedly once again looking to England. A youngster from Arsenal FC is said to have taken a shine to BVB.

Amario Cozier-Duberry has piqued BVB’s interest. That’s what transfer expert Ekrem Konur wants to know. In addition to the Black and Yellows, Newcastle United, Ajax Amsterdam, Sporting CP and RB Leipzig are also among the clubs that are said to have an eye on the 18-year-old offensive player.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano also fuels the rumor, but names two other clubs, RSC Anderlecht and Wolverhampton Wanderers, that could compete with Dortmund.

However, it is not surprising that several well-known clubs have the Arsenal talent on their list: Cozier-Duberry shines for the Gunners’ U21 in 2023/24 with five goals and two assists in eight appearances, and also scored twice in four games as part of the UEFA Youth League and was already in the pro matchday squad for the Champions League.

The “Evening Standard” previously reported on BVB’s interest. The newspaper also stated that Arsenal FC is the right winger’s first point of contact when it comes to planning for the near future. Discussions are said to have already begun, but an agreement is not yet close.

BVB can hope for bargains

The English U19 international is likely to be particularly interesting for Borussia as his contract in London expires in the summer, meaning a freely negotiable transfer fee would not be due. Dortmund would probably only have to pay training compensation.

In an interview with “The Athletic”, Arsenal’s young coach Jack Wilshere compared Cozier-Duberry to a Gunners player who has already made the leap to the world’s best: Bukayo Saka. If Cozier-Duberry actually has similar facilities, other top clubs are likely to get involved in poker.
