BG Göttingen lost the group final at FC Porto for a place in the quarter-finals of the Fiba Europe Cup and was therefore eliminated. On Tuesday evening, the Bundesliga basketball team lost to the hosts 64:82 (38:40) and thus missed out on advancing. The best throwers in head coach Olivier Foucart’s team were Umoja Gibson and David Michael de Julius with 14 points each.
Göttingen was the better team in the first few minutes, but then ran into problems and fell behind after an 11-0 run in the first quarter. However, the Lower Saxony team fought back until the break and reduced the gap to just two points.

After the break, Gibson finally put his team back in the lead with two free throws. In the last two minutes of the third quarter, however, Porto was able to pull away again and extended the lead to 77:62 shortly before the end of the final period. That meant the game was decided.
