This is sad news for fans of The Office. Ewen MacIntosh, who played Keith Bishop in the original version of the hit series, has died at the age of 50. It was the actor’s management company which shared the information on social networks: “It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comic genius, Ewen MacIntosh. His family thanks everyone who supported him, especially Willow Green Care Home. There will soon be a private cremation for family and close friends and a memorial service later in the year.”

Born in Wales, Ewen MacIntosh has appeared in several British comedies during his career, including Miranda and Little Britain. But it was above all for his role as Keith Bishop, the accountant for the Wernham Hogg paper company in the original series The Office, that he became known to the general public. On Twitter, actor and comedian Ricky Gervais, creator of the British version of The Office, paid a vibrant tribute to Ewen MacIntosh: “Extremely sad news. The very funny and very charming Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office has passed away. An absolute original. RIP.” Ed Scott, CEO of DABMusic and close friend of Ewen MacIntosh, also paid tribute to the latter’s memory: “He may have been a famous face, known to millions as Keith from The Office, but it is the person he was that I will remember the most.
