The lost Champions League game against Lazio Rome is the second disappointment for FC Bayern in just a few days. The team is extremely unsettled. Thomas Tuchel has to fear for his position.
FC Bayern is experiencing its next low point. And this is putting coach Thomas Tuchel in more and more trouble. In the 0-1 away win against Lazio Rome in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, his team did not show the reaction they had hoped for after losing 3-0 in the Bundesliga against Bayer Leverkusen. It was a sobering trip to Italy for the German football record champions. And for Tuchel it was already the fifth defeat in a knockout game as Bayern coach.
Progressing in the premier class is still quite possible even after the defeat in the first leg of the round of 16. But the performance must give the club something to think about. With all due respect to Lazio: this team is limited – especially offensively. And yet, given Roman’s chances to score in the final stages, Bayern couldn’t have complained if the game had ended 0-2 or 1-3.
The Munich team were hard-working and willing and at least showed a pretty solid performance in the first half, but in long phases of the game they were once again shockingly harmless – and lost the thread.

On Sunday Bayern will play in the league against VfL Bochum. If the Munich team does not deliver better results in a timely manner and improve significantly, Tuchel’s job is in acute danger. The questions about his future and debates about him will not stop in the coming days. Because 2024 so far is anything but “Bavaria-like”.
