Basketball Bundesliga Cup Final: Bayern Munich and ratiopharm Ulm Set for Showdown

Defending champions Bayern Munich and German champions ratiopharm Ulm are in the cup final of the Basketball Bundesliga. League leaders Munich effortlessly beat Bamberg Baskets 81:62 (48:32) in the first semi-final at BMW Park on Saturday and lived up to their role as favorites. The best Bayern thrower was ex-NBA professional Serge Ibaka with 15 points.

In the second semi-final, Alba Berlin and ratiopharm Ulm fought an exciting duel. In the end, the Ulm team narrowly prevailed with 87:79 (42:40). The final will take place this Sunday (2 p.m./BR television and Dyn).

Bayern only had a few problems in the first quarter in front of world champion captain Dennis Schröder. Schröder used the all-star break in the NBA to take a short trip to Munich. The Munich team won the second period 27:10 and from then on they were unstoppable.

Ulm, on the other hand, was only able to pull away somewhat shortly before the end. After Alba got off to a better start in the final quarter, the German champions turned the game around again and moved into the final. The best thrower in Ulm was Trevion Williams with 25 points.
