Baller League: Amateur clubs against Baller League

A week and a half ago, Markus Köppe became the most famous opponent in the Baller League. According to the sports director of FV Bonn-Endenich, he basically has nothing against the new football league led by Mats Hummels and Lukas Podolski. Köppe is a fan of 1. FC Köln and as such of course also one of Podolski. Köppe’s problem with the Baller League: He lost four of his players to them.

The Baller League is intended to get young people excited about football. The games in the hall, which sometimes have their own unusual rules, are streamed on Twitch every Monday. How revolutionary the concept really is is debatable. But it’s getting there. The Twitch stream has up to a million clicks per game day, even though the stars are not on the pitch, but as managers next to it. Most of the players come from the top amateur leagues, some from the fourth-tier regional leagues, especially from the upper leagues.
