Sunday January 28, on the occasion of a late treat as a pretext for the meeting, the members of the badminton association met at the gymnasium level for a multi-level mini-tournament, some teenagers even competing against adults seasoned.
The badminton club has existed for a good ten years in Peyrehorade, initially it was modestly installed in the old gymnasium. It has been asserting itself for several years, helped by a dynamic presence at the annual association day, which allows direct contact with families looking for a sporting and fun activity for their children and sometimes even for parents. The club aims to be friendly and unpretentious, making fair play an absolute principle.
A family niche
Member of Peyrehorade Omnisports, the badminton club wants to maintain its philosophy of pleasure in the practice of sport. Today – while it is not yet affiliated with the National Federation – it has around 70 members who come to play regularly, including 35 young people (from 8 years old) who practice every Thursday evening at the new gymnasium, from 6 p.m. at 7:15 p.m., with two educators.
Adults meet on Tuesdays (7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.) and Thursday (7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) for intensive and regular sessions, singles or doubles depending on the participants present. Note that they take part in tournaments on Saturdays, from 5 p.m., and that a slot dedicated to families is open on Sunday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Sessions take place all year round, even during school holidays. These slots are open to the interested public to test the activity.
