Asnawi Mangkualam Becomes a Substitute, Port FC Draws Against Yanto Basna Club

KOMPAS.com – Asnawi Mangkualam appeared as a substitute when Port FC drew with PT Prachuap FC in the continuation of the Thai League’s top competition, Thai League 1.

Port FC, which is defended by Asnawi Mangkualam, visited Prachuap FC headquarters in the match week 18 of the 2023-2024 Thai League.

The Prachuap vs Port FC match was held at the Sam Ao Stadium, Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan, on Saturday (17/2/2024) evening WIB.

Against Prachuap, Rangsan Viwatchaichok as Port FC coach again put Asnawi Mangkualam on the bench.

Previously, Asnawi appeared for one minute when Port FC won 4-3 over Muang Thong United last week.

Even though he was introduced at the end of the match, Asnawi was involved in Port FC’s winning goal.

Meanwhile in the Prachuap FC camp, Yanto Basna was not included in the squad for the team coached by Sasom Pobprasert.

Just like Asnawi, Yanto Basna also moved to the Thai League in January this year.

Acting as host, Prachuap took the lead first.

Prachuap striker from South Korea, Jeong Woo-geun, managed to break through Port FC’s goal after only 18 minutes of the match.

Port FC were only able to equalize in the second half, to be precise in the 57th minute.

Port FC’s equalizing goal was created thanks to the suicide of the home defender, Airton Tirabassi.

Entering the 62nd minute, coach Rangsan Viwatchaichok introduced Asnawi Mangkualam to replace striker Pakorn Prempak.

However, Asnawi’s entry did not change the situation. The 1-1 draw remained until the match finished.

This draw meant that Port FC failed to displace Bangkok United from the top of the standings.

Port FC, which has collected 36 points from 18 matches, is currently in second place in the Thai League standings.

Asnawi Mangkualam et al are two points adrift of Bangkok United who are perched at the top.

Bangkok United has the opportunity to widen the gap with Port FC because they have only played 17 matches.
