AS Monaco embarrassed themselves in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. Adi Hütter’s team fails in the penalty shootout against third division club FC Rouen.
In the pouring rain it takes around half an hour before favorite Monaco can take the lead. Folarin Balogun takes a penalty, which the fouled man converts himself and puts the Hütter team in the lead (35th).
But this doesn’t last until half-time. In the fifth minute of stoppage time in the first half, Clement Bassin was able to make it 1-1 after a standard (45th + 5th).

However, neither team managed to score a goal and Monaco had to go to penalties.
This one is extremely tight. The outsiders’ fourth shooter, Mustapha Benzia, missed – but Balogun also failed to put his second attempt of the evening in the goal. It wasn’t until the 14th penalty that the game was decided – in favor of the underdog. Monaco’s youngster Maghnes Akliouche misses.
This means that Rouen can prevail against the big favorites from the principality with 6:5 nE and is in the cup quarter-finals.
