Argentine Tennis Soars: Eight Players Among the Top 100 in the ATP Ranking

This Monday the new ATP ranking was published and eight Argentine tennis players are among the best 100 in the world. Mariano Navone, recent finalist in Rio de Janeiro, and Thiago Tirante joined the group at the top.

Francisco CerÃondolo is number 20° in the roster and is the first albiceleste racquet. Just one place behind his is Sebastián Baéz, who on Sunday was crowned ATP 500 champion in Rio de Janeiro and climbed nine places.

In addition, Tomás Etcheverry, Facundo Díaz Acosta, Pedro Cachín and Federico Coria are among the top 100 tennis players in the ranking.

According to the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT), Argentina shares third place with Australia among the countries that have the most players in the Top-100. They are located behind the United States (12) and France (10).

Albiceleste tennis is going through a great moment: last week Facundo Díaz Acosta became ATP champion in Buenos Aires and last Sunday saw Báez’s victory in Rio, which meant the first ATP 500 category title for an Argentine in six years.
