Analysis of Arsenal’s Loss to Liverpool and Wolverhampton’s Season

Two league rounds in quick succession and the next installment of our weekly Premier League column is here. This time we will look under the hood of Arsenal’s thrashing with Liverpool (3:1), at the same time we will highlight the seasonal progress of Wolverhampton.

The main hit of the round between Arsenal and Liverpool offered a very good performance from the midfield of the Gunners in addition to one mistake leading to a goal on both sides. Arsenal’s dominance is also depicted by xG 3.52, Liverpool has never faced a bigger number since statistics have been kept.

Trent will have to work

Due to the death of Liverpool’s father, the spirited youngster Conor Bradley was missing, Trent Alexander Arnold returned to the right side of the defense and was on fire defensively. You could say it’s traditional when Gabriel Martinelli stands against him. An Englishman always has a problem with that.

It is known that Arnold has gaps in defense, but against Arsenal it seemed as if he let some fights go before they even started. Fans complained last year that he had no competition and therefore no motivation to work hard, but now he does. Bradley jumped right into adult football.

Considering how the midfield burned out at the Emirates Stadium, there is also the possibility of moving Arnold to the reserve. This has been speculated about for the third year already, but Jürgen Klopp has not yet had a high-quality replacement at right back. Now there is nothing stopping him.

Wolves jump all the way to Europe?

Before the season, one of the biggest outsiders of the competition is in the first half of the table. And rightfully so! Wolves are on a roll under manager Gary O’Neill, beating Chelsea for the second time in a row at the weekend and the fans are talking cups.

And after all, why not? All three players of the offensive trefoil are in vital form, while Hwang Hee-chan was in the last rounds of the African Championship. And he was very decently replaced by another offensive player – Pablo Sarabia.

Wolves’ only problem seems to be defensively. Craig Dawson and Max Kilman work well, but what if one of them gets injured. Then the Wolves are in a big problem and the hope for a quiet mid-table will become from the fight for cups.
