Alexander Zverev out in the semi-finals of the Los Cabos tournament

Seeded No. 1 in the Los Cabos tournament, Alexander Zverev fell in the semi-finals on Friday against Jordan Thompson. The Australian (40th in the world) won after a long fight of three sets (7-5, 4-6, 7-6) and 3h40 against the German (6th in the world), who was making his comeback on the courts in Mexico almost a month after his lost semi-final at the Australian Open.

Zverev took his opponent to the tie-break of the third set, after saving five match points at 6-5 for Thompson, but he then broke down in a one-sided decider (7-2). The Australian thus reached the third final of his career.

He will face another big caliber in the final, Casper Ruud (12th in the world), winner in the other semi-final of Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-4, 7-6). The Greek won his only title of the 2023 season in Los Cabos (ATP 250) but did not find the solution against the double finalist of Roland-Garros.
