On February 17 and 18, the regional archery championships took place for the Senior 1 and Senior 2 categories.
Thibault Marien competed in S1HCO: at the end of the qualifications, he ranked among the best because he reached the duels for the final phases. After a hard-fought match, he lost to the first in the qualifiers.
On Sunday, it’s time for the recurve archers with Morgane Lequien in S1FCL and Thibault Marien and Sylvain Schmit in S1HCL. Morgane finishes the qualifications with a score well below her abilities and training results. Sylvain and Thibault enter the duels; a real feat with the level of competitors in the running.
The two archers met in the round of 16: a duel won by Sylvain who then had a series of victories to reach the final. He lost to Benjamin Chirault, with a hard-fought score of 7 to 3.
The French championship
Next weekend the French youth 18m shooting championships will take place in Grenoble: Léna Monbailly will represent the Airois club in the U18 women’s barebow category.
It will be a great discovery for this young archer. Arriving at the club in September, she participated in numerous competitions with as many podiums to her name, including a departmental champion title and a third place in the regional championship.
