Adrien Fourmaux goes 2nd in the Swedish Rally and achieves the scratch on SS11

Third in the general classification on Friday evening, Adrien Fourmaux took second place in the Swedish Rally on Saturday morning. During SS10, the Frenchman from M-Sport took advantage of Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) going off the road, who hit a wall of snow, to move up one place in the hierarchy. Fourmaux even hit the nail on the head in the following special by setting the best time ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). The third scratch of his WRC career.

In the general classification, Fourmaux is 1’24” behind the leader, Esapekka Lappi (Hyundai). Taking advantage of better conditions than the day before, Elfyn Evans (Toyota) found himself on his heels in third position, 16 seconds behind. But the Frenchman can see far, he who feels even better than the day before. “It was a very good stage,” he appreciated upon arrival. We changed the settings a bit and found something really good. The track was cleaner too, which helped us, but honestly I’m very happy with my pace. »

“Now we have to stay on the road”

How far can he go? Fourmaux is obviously thinking of the podium, on which he has never been on in the WRC. “Now we have to stay on the road,” the M-Sport driver wanted to convince himself. In this rally full of twists and turns, things have been cleaned up and the margin over fourth gives him some optimism (1’1” over Oliver Solberg, Rally2 driver, while Neuville is 1’18” behind).

The theoretical favorites of the event were back on track this Saturday after their retirement the day before. Ott Tänak (Hyundai) set the best time on SS9, and Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) took over in the next one. Four stages are on the program for the afternoon, starting at 2:15 p.m.
