Youcef Atal appeals his conviction for provoking hatred

Currently in Ivory Coast to play the African Cup of Nations with Algeria, Youcef Atal was suspended by OGC Nice until further notice. He is accused of having relayed on his social networks comments calling in particular for “a black day for the Jewish people”, against a backdrop of conflict between Israel and Hamas.

There will therefore be a new trial. Until then, at the goodwill of his leaders, he could potentially play again with the Aiglons on his return from the CAN, having served the seven match suspension imposed by the LFP. “Youcef Atal will rejoin the squad because he is a player under contract with OGC Nice (until June),” announced his coach Francesco Farioli at a press conference last Thursday.
