Coach Xavi has announced his retirement from FC Barcelona. The search for a successor is difficult because some well-known candidates are still under contract. Four German coaches are on the list.
The complicated search for a successor to outgoing coach Xavi has begun at FC Barcelona. The 44-year-old declared on Saturday evening after the bitter 3:5 against Villarreal FC that he wanted to resign from his position on June 30th.
Xavi is convinced that the team needs a change of course: “I don’t want to be a problem. I want the best for the club. I think it’s good for everyone to relax the situation.” The pressure on the coach of one of the best clubs in the world has become too great in the past few months. Xavi spoke of a “terrible toll on mental health and mood.”
