Wolgast Judokas: A Year of Competitions and Achievements

New year, new luck for our Wolgast judokas. Our “little ones” ended the 2019 competition year and opened our competition season at the beginning of 2020. Last weekend, January 11th, 13 clubs with 149 athletes came to Neuenkirchen for the New Year’s beginners’ tournament.

For the last sporting event of this year, a considerable number of 26 large and small judokas came to our dojo last Monday (December 9th, 2019) to take their examination for the next Kyu in front of the Kyu examiner Jörg Henke.

Our annual St. Nicholas tournament took place on December 7th, 2019. Our little ones from the U7 and U9 started and rounded off a successful year of competition.

Yesterday, Saturday, November 16th, 2019, our year-end celebration took place in the form of a small Christmas party. We were allowed to hold this in the halls of the Wolgast bowling club KC “90” Wolgast eV.

Last weekend, November 8th – 10th, 2019, a 15-member delegation of our judokas from the U8 to U18 age groups traditionally made the long journey to Auma-Weidatal (Thuringia) for the “Auma-Weidatal City Cup”.

On Saturday (November 30th) and Sunday (December 1st) our judokas made their way to the penultimate round of the “competition” of 2019. We drove to Grimmen for the 25th International Christmas Cup Tournament 2019 – squad tournament – of the KSV Grimmen eV Judo Section. 564 fighters from 40 clubs from Poland, Sweden and Germany took part in these superbly organized two days of competition.

“Training to become a trainer C” The training to become a trainer C extended with several courses throughout 2019. Jens Klein and Leonie Maske from our club took part in the training. The last one took place last weekend (November 23rd/24th, 2019). Course with a final exam took place. Both judokas successfully obtained their Trainer C license.
