What will happen to Alfred Gislason?

First of all, the national coach is working on his own home. The association wants to discuss calmly after the European Championship analysis whether he can continue to work on the German handball team after the summer. There are pitfalls lurking.

A lot of work awaits him at home in Wendgräben. There’s a roof to be repaired on his property. Alfred Gislason has left the stress of the European Handball Championship behind him and said goodbye to the tranquil Jerichower Land. Before he left his team and the hustle and bustle in Cologne with fourth place in his luggage, he sent a not entirely unimportant message to the German Handball Association (DHB): “I would like to continue.”

His contract expires at the end of August – after the Olympic Games. The direct qualification for Paris was missed by the 31:34 in the game for third place against Sweden. The chance to be there in France still exists: from March 14th to 17th, the DHB selection in Hanover will compete with Croatia, Austria and Algeria for two starting places at the Olympic tournament in Paris (preliminary round) and Lille (finals).
