What emotions! A fantastic end to the competition at Ga-Pa!

Polish jumpers maintained the status quo in the Four Hills Tournament. In Oberstdorf, only three of them scored points. It was the same in the New Year’s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Aleksander Zniszczoł scored the first points of the season, although after his trial series we were hungry for more. In the end, he still placed the highest among us.

Kubacki was lost after the first series in Ga-Pa. She destroyed her first points

The hero of the trial series, Aleksander Zniszczoł, was the first to appear at the start in the Polish team. Just before the competition, the 29-year-old surprised with a long jump of 136 m and took 7th place, just ahead of the TCS leader Andreas Wellinger. The competition wasn’t that good. He jumped 128 m, but won the KO competition with Niko Kytosaho easily. The Finn scored only 116.5, which gave Zniszczół his first points in this World Cup season. After the first series he was 26th.

Kamil Stoch was also better than his rival as a pair, ranking just behind his younger teammate. After a jump of 130 m, he beat Halvor Egner Granerud by just 0.8 points and knocked the winner of the previous TCS out of the competition. The Norwegian sensationally failed to make it through the first series for the second time, because the same thing happened to him in Oberstdorf.

Piotr Żyła also advanced to the age of thirty. Although he turned out to be much worse in the fight against Anze Lanisek, he was still among the five “lucky losers”. The Pole achieved 126 m and was 23rd. The Slovenian jumped to 136 m, which gave him third place. Only Dawid Kubacki was missing in the final. A jump of 128 m in relatively good conditions did not allow for victory in pair with Johann Andre Forfang (129 m) or for advancement with the result. He took 33rd position. He missed promotion by 5.1 points.

The best in the first series was the Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi. He jumped 137 m and was only 0.1 point ahead of second place Jan Hoerl. The Austrian showed the longest distance – 140 m. Lanisek, third, was 1.8 points behind the leader. The tournament leader and winner from Oberstdorf, Andreas Wellinger, was fourth after jumping on 138 m and was 2.1 points behind. The next places were taken by two Austrians, Manuel Fettner (136 m) and Stefan Kraft (133.5 m).

There are no changes in the Four Hills Tournament. Wellinger leads. Sensational winner in Ga-Pa

In the second series, both Stoch and Zniszczoł scored 133 m and improved slightly. Żyła, in turn, made a great jump of 137.5 m. Unfortunately, he staggered when landing and miraculously avoided the support. Low scores of 15.5 and 16 points meant that he fell behind Zniszczoł in the final classification, who thus turned out to be the best Pole. He was 21st. Żyła finished the competition in 22nd position, and Stoch in 25th place.

Karl Geiger actually ruined his chance to win the TCS. The German’s second place in the first competition in Ga-Pa was completely disappointing. After jumping on 129 and 130 m, he took only 16th place and lost a lot in the tournament classification. Stefan Kraft started the fight for the top positions. After a jump of 132 m, he took the lead in the second round, overtaking Marius Lindvik. Manuel Fettner landed even further, six meters away. He beat his compatriot by over 12 points.

TCS leader Andreas Wellinger jumped on 137.5 m and, thanks to better style scores, overtook Fettner. However, this was not enough on Anza Laniska. The Slovenian landed only half a meter closer and secured the podium for the first time this season. The German eventually found himself in the top three, because Jan Hoerl failed completely in the second jump. 128.5 m made him fall behind Fettner and he finished the competition in 5th place. The competition ended with Ryoyu Kobayashi, who had a chance to take the lead in the entire series. However, 135.5 m was not enough for victory or leadership in TCS. He finished the competition in second place, making up for the loss to Wellinger to 1.8 points. The winner was Anze Lanisek. Wellinger was third.
