Real Madrid coach Chus Mateo wittily commented this Thursday that his purpose was to “delight the fans with another” extra time, after his pupils needed another extra time to beat Valencia Basket 96-86, on WiZink Center, during matchday 21 of the Regular Phase of the Euroleague.
“We see that WiZink likes overtime and we wanted to delight the fans with another one,” Mateo joked in the press conference after the match, having alluded to the victory on January 5 after four overtimes against Anadolu Efes.
“We didn’t start the game well today, with many losses in a very short time and that hindered our attack a lot. We had to attack well so that Valencia didn’t run on the counterattack. And Valencia is also a very good team defensively, we were having a hard time attacking fluently,” said the Madrid coach.
