“VEF Rīga” basketball players have a convincing victory in the LIBL game

“VEF Riga” beat “Viimsi” on the road with the result 83:57 (27:8, 19:17, 20:18, 17:14).

Pēteris Pinnis stood out among the winners with 19 points and ten rebounds, while Jaizek Lotti had 18 points and five assists.

Artjoms Kovalyovs collected 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Viimsi unit.

“Vefieši” with 15 wins and five losses completes the top three in the tournament table, while “Viimsi” ranks 13th with five wins and 15 losses.

In another match, the Liepāja team lost to “University of Tartu”/”Maks & Moorits” basketball players with the result 78:84 (23:21, 10:23, 24:19, 21:21) on their court.

Among the hosts, Emīls Krūmiņš was the most productive with 18 points, while Klāvs Dubults and Reinis Avotiņš added 12 and 11 points, who also grabbed six rebounds.

In the Tartu team, Merts Rosenthal stood out with 30 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.

“Liepāja” with nine wins in 18 matches is in the ninth position in the tournament table, while the Tartu team ranks sixth with a 12-6 record.

In addition to the Riga-based Ukrainian team Slobojanskas “Prometey” in the LIBL this season, “VEF Rīga”, “Ventspils”, “Liepāja”, “Ogre”, “University of Latvia”, “Valmiera Glass”/”Vidzemes Augstskola” and “Rīgas Zeļļi” are competing. In the main tournament, teams compete in a two-round tournament, after which the best eight will participate in the playoffs. The best men’s basketball clubs of Latvia and Estonia played in a joint championship for the first time in the 2019 season, when 15 teams participated in the competition. “Ventspils” basketball players became the first winners of the league in the final four tournament.

Last season, in the final of the “Final 4” tournament, the basketball players of Slobojanska “Prometey” became the champions.
