Uriel Canjura Nominated for Pan American Athlete of 2023 after Winning Bronze Medal at Santiago Games

The Salvadoran badminton athlete, Uriel Canjura, has been nominated by the Pan American Badminton Confederation for the “Pan American Athlete of 2023” award.

The 23-year-old athlete from Cuscatle participated in the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, winning the Bronze medal in the individual category after losing against Canadian Brian Yang in the semifinals.

Canjura, shares the shortlist with Brian Yang from Canada, Kevin Cordón from Guatemala and Ygor Coelho from Brazil.

The native of Suchitoto is currently ranked 54th in the world ranking, and will seek a ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In badminton, 35 places will be awarded, both men and women and the classification will be based on the results obtained between May 1, 2023 and April 28, 2024.
