SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS.– Five pitchers combined to throw a blank ball with only five hits and second baseman Jack Mayfield fired two RBI hits so that the Tigres del Licey whitewashed the Estrellas Orientales 5-0, in the third match of the Final Series of the Winter Baseball Tournament, held at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in this city.
It was the Tigers’ first victory in the series after losing their first two games to make the final 2-1, still in favor of the greens.
The victory went to reliever Brooks Hall (1-0) who worked three and two-thirds innings with one walk and five strikeouts.
Left-hander Andy Otero (0-1) lost, giving up four runs in one and a third innings of five hits and one strikeout.
