This is Feyenoord’s likely line-up for the away match against Vitesse

Feyenoord has to put something right in the away match against Vitesse on Sunday. Coach Arne Slot’s team had an extremely disappointing start to the new calendar year with a 2-2 draw in the home match against NEC. Reason for Slot to start tinkering with his vanguard again before the visit to Vitesse. Where trust was gained on the left last week, it will most likely be shown in Arnhem.

Feyenoord paid almost eight million euros last summer for the arrival of Ivanusec. The Croat got off to an excellent start with the reigning champions of the Netherlands. He immediately provided an assist on his debut against FC Utrecht and in his first home match against SC Heerenveen he scored immediately. However, Ivanusec failed to maintain that form. The Croat was injured in the closing stages of the first Champions League match against Celtic and was subsequently sidelined for a number of weeks. He has now been fit again for a while, but in the Eredivisie the counter still stands at only one goal and one assist.

It is not without reason that Slot is in the vanguard. Santiago Giménez is of course assured of his place, but on the flanks it is almost a weekly change. Slot opted for Javairô Dilrosun and Paixão in the first match after the winter break against NEC. Dilrosun was hardly involved in the first half of the season and seemed to be making a transfer this month, but made a good impression during the recent training camp in Spain and repaid Slot’s confidence against NEC with a goal. He may start again against Vitesse. It expects that Algemeen Dagblad at least.

On the other hand, Paixão has to make way for Ivanusec. The Croat had to make do with a short substitute last week. Although Feyenoord did not get further than a 2-2 draw in the home game with NEC, Slot sticks to the same names for the rest. Justin Bijlow naturally defends the goal, but at the back Lutsharel Geertruida, Gernot Trauner, David Hancko and Quilindschy Hartman have to keep the door closed this time. The midfield is formed by Mats Wieffer, Calvin Stengs and Quinten Timber and in the front it is up to Dilrosun, Giménez and Ivanusec to hurt Vitesse. The first meeting with the Arnhem team ended in a carefree 4-0 win. Stengs, Giménez, Geertruida and Antoni Mulambo, who extended his contract this week, then took care of the Rotterdam production.

Ivanusec should be preferred to Paixão in every match
